Design concepts are what tie our designs together. With each and every project we take the people, site, and the culture of a location into account. Utilizing this, we are able to create a model that clearly represents this and our design goals. The Jordan Valley Park project was an ideal example of this. In that project, everything was conceptual in terms of what we could build. This specific design included a guiding entrance to our site, which resided within a park. Alongside this was a pathway that had a clear and concept driven use. Then, both of these ended with a point of rest for those in the park to contemplate. The project was entirely designed around Jo Van Arkel's The Life of Birds. I chose bird murmurations as the backbone to my design. The goal overall was for people to experience the ups and downs of life not in their own mind, but in the mind of a bird. This gave freedom to an audience with organic and natural movement that allowed them to take these moments in through a means they've never experienced before.
