Foundations of Studio and Design was meant to build our understanding design. The focus was around developing creative solutions to a vast array of problems. Projects were always open ended, allowing us to learn idea expression through color, form, and space. In this class, we learned to delve deeper than the surface level of concepts and ideas.

Initially, we began by exploring past projects and precedents. We were asked to interpret a painting or picture and create an abstract sculpture that captured its personality. I chose a picture of a fossil instilled in rock. My abstraction dealt with connecting the layers of earth to an almost floating body within.
